As its name suggests, Coalville is a former coal mining town, and coal was first mined in the area in medieval times. Buses run to Leicester, Loughborough, Burton-on-Trent, Hinckley and East Midlands airport. The nearest rail station is Loughborough, eight miles north-east of Coalville.
