Grantham is a picturesque market town in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire. It is situated on the East Coast main line between London and Edinburgh offering regular trains to London Kings Cross in just over an hour. With excellent access to the A1 north and south, Grantham is located approximately 26 miles south of the city of Lincoln, and approximately 24 miles east of Nottingham. Grantham is surrounded by fantastic countryside and beautiful villages including the highly coveted Vale of Belvoir area. Woolsthorpe by Belvoir offers fantastic views of the 10th century castle Belvoir Castle and an award winning pub The Chequers. The town is well known as the birthplace of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher who attended the grammar school Kesteven and Grantham Girls’ School and also the birthplace of Isaac Newton who is a bloodline ancestor of our Chief Executive Mark Newton and who attended the local boy’s grammar school The Kings School where his alleged signature can still be seen upon a library window sill. Both schools achieve high examination results and are highly placed in the county's league tables with the other notable school in the area of this type being the Central Technology and Sports College. The area has a wealth of good primary schools including Barrowby School, The National School and Grantham Preparatory School, an independent school preparing entrants for the 11-plus examination.
