- 12% of tenants who moved into new privately rented homes since the beginning of 2018, were previously living in the owner occupied sector.
- Unsurprisingly, this percentage is much higher for older tenants. 36% of 50–60 year olds and 42% of over 60s were previously living in owner occupation before choosing to release equity and move into rented accommodation.
- Meanwhile, almost half of moves (47%) were from tenants moving from other rented homes, either in the private or social sector.
