- It’s national Bike Week 8–16 June, celebrating the social, health and environmental benefits of getting about by bike. Across the UK it is estimated that over three quarters of a million people commute to work by bike, the equivalent of 3% of the working population.
- Commuting by bike is most prevalent across London and the South, while proportionally fewer employees across the North East and Wales taking to the saddle.
- Over six million adults cycle at least twice a month for leisure purposes according to the latest ‘Active Lives’ report published by Sport England in April.
