With a close knit team who supported the opening of the nearby Syston branch in 2013, the branch has strengthened its geographical coverage, spanning across Birstall, Rearsby, East Goscote and surrounding villages.

Rothley area guide


Rothley is situated on the edge of Charnwood Forest and is full of history and old world charm, with its abundant timber framed cruck cottages and listed War Memorial on Cross Green.  Notably, the English noblewoman and great granddaughter of Henry VIII, Lady Jane Grey, was born in October of 1537 at her family home of Bradgate Park in nearby village, Newtown Linford.

Situated within close proximity of both Loughborough and Leicester, Rothley boasts a vibrant village community with lots to offer residents and visitors.  There are a range of high street and boutique shops and eateries, including cafes, gastro pubs and an award winning Fish & Chip shop.  For sporting types, the village and surrounding area offer a golf course, bowls club, tennis and cricket clubs, as well as numerous countryside walks.  The nearby Great Central railway line – the UK’s only Main Line Heritage Railway, features beautiful walks between Charnwood Forest and the Wolds.  

The village has a good primary school, Rothley C of E Primary School, and various secondary schools are located in nearby villages.

Rothley offers commuters easy links to the A6, M1 and London, as well as a regular bus service to Leicester town and Loughborough City Centre which is popular amongst both commuters and shoppers.

Rothley has many attractive properties, particularly on The Ridgeway, and is also home to the most cruck cottages in Leicestershire.
