Charnwood Christmas Toy Appeal 2018 Launches

Something struck a chord when I heard about the Charnwood Christmas Toy Appeal back in 2016. It was hearing that some children spend Christmas without being given one single toy that pulled on my heart strings. Last year we supported the Charnwood Christmas Toy Appeal toy and were so overwhelmed with the response, we’re doing it again!

This week I went back to see their office space, kindly offered to them by Nat West Bank in Loughborough, and met with Ruth Townsend chair of the appeal. She swung open the doors to what can only be described as, a real-life Santa’s grotto in the early stages of organisation by his elves!

An amazing sight with all the toys collected so far and lined up in age order, but more gifts are needed.

The appeal, now in its 28th year, is organised and run entirely by these amazing volunteers and aims to deliver to more than 400 disadvantaged children age 0-16, soley across Loughborough and Charnwood this Christmas.

Our office, right in the centre of Loughborough town on Swan Street (opposite Nationwide), is one of three official collection points for new toys and gifts and we’re urging you to help put a smile on the face of a child this Christmas too.

Simply pop an extra toy or gift in your basket when next shopping in the town for Christmas and donate it in our collection bin. It is asked that gifts, for either a boy or girl, are donated unwrapped so they can be sorted and arranged in the most suitable way and for the correct age range.

I’ll keep you posted as to how we go!

Richard.
